5 Reasons SEO is Dead and Content Marketing is the Future

Published just a few months ago in April of 2017, Callum Stringfellow started a heated debate on LinkedIn so controversial it picked up over 1,600 comments.

Callum proposed the idea that cold calling was dead, and digital marketing is the future. As you can imagine, there were fueled conversations from those who agreed and disagreed.

The third most recent comment on the post starts with, “Utter nonsense“.

It continues, “Yes, cold calling may be dead in some industries, but in majority of industries is (and will be) extremely effective, especially if supported by digital marketing campaigns.

I think it’s fair to say that the article itself wasn’t particularly inspiring.

It consists of just a few hundred words, with the first argument made being “Everyone is online.”

Callum later followed up the post with a ‘part 2’ – probably because of how successful the original was – but it paled in comparison, reaching just 5% of the likes of his former effort.

Still, reaching that many people on LinkedIn is impressive, especially when ads on the platform are so expensive, so this simple post likely got Callum a lot of attention.

Don’t just be controversial for the sake of controversy, but if you believe that something is dead or dying, don’t be afraid to talk about it either.

You’ll face some criticism from those on the other side of the fence – and make no mistake, there will be people on the other side of the fence – but that’s what comes with having an opinion online.

You have to take the good with the bad sometimes.
